The context
A staff schedule has several audiences. The person planning the week needs a complete view, a location leader needs the right controls, and each employee needs to know when and where they are working.
The approach
Rota separates planning from publishing and gives each role an appropriate view. The schedule, staffing requirements, and availability belong to the same workflow, with a clear point at which the plan becomes visible to employees.
01
Organize shifts by location and week, assign employees, and review staffing warnings before publishing.
02
Owners manage the workspace. Leaders work within their managed locations. Employees see their own published assignments.
03
Bring staff availability and leave records into scheduling decisions, rather than keeping them separate from the weekly plan.
04
Give employees a direct view of their confirmed shifts without exposing the whole management workspace.
Step 1
Define locations, employees, shift templates, and the access each person needs.
Step 2
Build the week, assign staff, and review availability and staffing warnings.
Step 3
Make the agreed shifts available to employees through their own view.
A business application with different responsibilities, a shared planning process, and distinct management and employee experiences. It is an example of the scheduling and internal operations software Opero can build.
